Position Title: Cashier
Position
Summary: Sodexo at Newberry College is looking for a cashier to work at the main dining hall.
o Operates a cash register (or equivalent), receiving payments (cash, checks, or charges) from customers for good/services.
o Gives change and issues receipts or tickets to customers.
o Follows Sodexo cash handling policies and procedures.
o Receives, lifts, moves and stores supplies/goods.
o Keeps shelves/racks/refrigerator and freezers stocked and rotates stock (if appropriate) to ensure freshness.
o Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of store by sweeping, dusting, and mopping.
o Follows all requirements and policies of Sodexo, the facility, local, state and federal jurisdictions.
o Sets up stations with the required equipment and supplies
o Handles cooking equipment and food
o Serves and replenishes food from counters and tables, and breaks down stations at the end of meal periods.
o Provides the highest quality of service to customers at all times.
o May set-up and stock the beverage area or other assigned areas.
o Most be able to follow all HACCP procedures and policies

Typical Knowledge and Skills:
Ability to press buttons in a register
Smile and welcome the customers
Applies basic skills appropriate for the position
Focuses primarily on own area of specialty
Ability to effectively communicate and receive information in a manner easily understood by fellow employees, supervisors and customer
Typical Requirements:
o Education or Equivalent
Experience: High School diploma or GED or equivalent experience.
o Function Specific
Experience: 1 - 2 years of related work experience. May be required to have knowledge of goods/services sold. Basic math skills required.
o Certification Requirements: None.
o Schedule: Flexible evenings and weekends.
Supervision: will be supervised by manager and/or lead/supervisor.
Supervision Received: Works under direct supervision and follows standard procedures and written instructions to accomplish assigned tasks.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in an area that is adequately lighted and ventilated.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
