Cases, delivers, and collects mail along a prescribed rural route using a vehicle; provides customers on the route with avariety of services.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Sorts mail in delivery sequence for the assigned route.
2. Receives and signs for accountable mail.
3. Loads mail in vehicle.
4. Delivers mail to customers along a prescribed route and on a regular schedule by a vehicle; collects monies and receipts
for accountable mail; picks up mail from customers'' roadside boxes.
5. Sells stamps, stamped paper and money orders; accepts C.O.D., registered, certified, and insured mail and parcel post;
furnishes routine information concerning postal matters and provides requested forms to customer.
6. Returns mail collected, undeliverable mail, and submits monies and receipts to post office.
7. Prepares mail for forwarding amd maintains records of change of address information.
8. Prepares a daily trip report and maintains a list of the customers on the route.
9. Conducts special surveys when required.
10. Maintains an inventory of stamps and stamped paper as needed to provide service to customers on the route.
11. Provides for mail security at all times.

MUST PASS EXAM 473;
AVAILABLE TO WORK ON AN AS NEEDED BASIS;VALID STATE DRIVERS LICENSE FROM STATE OF RESIDENCE;
MINIMUM OF TWO YEARS DRIVING EXPERIENCE WITH GOOD DRIVING RECORD;
PROVIDE RELIABLE VEHICLE FOR DELIVERY OF MAIL;
MEET PERSONAL AND MEDICAL SUITABILITY; and
PASS ROAD TESTS ADMINISTERED BY POSTAL SERVICE EXAMINERS:
USPS DEFENSIVE DRIVING COURSE: This is a web-based training course for Postal Delivery Vehicle Operators.
USPS DEFENSIVE DRIVING COURSE DEBRIEF: This is a MeetingPlace or classroom debrief with the Driving Safety
Instructor on Safe Driving Program principles learned in the Defensive Driving Course (DDC).
VEHICLE FAMILIARIZATION: This is hands-on driving given after you complete the DDC and DDC Debrief. You will be
given up to 3 hours practice training on the driver#s skills course (on our practice course) in the vehicle you will be driving.
You will also be given up to 1 hours controlled driving training held on public streets.
PROVIDE RELIABLE VEHICLE FOR DELIVERY OF MAIL MEANS A VEHICLE WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND
WITHOUT A LARGE CONSOLE IN THE MIDDLE THAT WOULD ALLOW YOU TO PASS MAIL OUT THE PASSENGER
WINDOW INTO THE CUSTOMER''S MAILBOX.
FAILURE TO REPORT FOR A DRUG TEST WILL RESULT IN YOUR NAME BEING REMOVED FROM ALL ACTIVE
REGISTERS MAINTAINED BY THIS OFFICE. IF YOU ARE DECLINING A POSITION AT THIS TIME, YOU ARE STILL
REQUIRED TO REPORT FOR THE DRUG TEST IN ORDER TO REMAIN ACTIVE ON ANY REGISTER FOR FUTURE
CONSIDERATION.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
