Position:
As a member of the Hospital's management team, the Assistant Chief Financial Officer (ACFO) will develop, implement and direct the accounting functions of NCMH, including general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, budgeting and reimbursement, bank reconciliations, financial analysis and reporting.
This position also acts for or represents the Chief Financial Officer and performs other related work as required.
Duties and
Responsibilities:
oMonitors and analyzes budget performance and accounting techniques to determine actual versus budget costs.
oSupervises the preparation of all third party cost reimbursement reports required by Medicare and Medicaid.
oHires, trains, supervises, conducts performance evaluations and recommends disciplinary action for staff.
oMaintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
oOversees the production of monthly financial reports; ensures that reporting results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or governmental financial reporting standards.
oProduces the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management.
oProvides financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
oWorks with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit.
oSafeguard Hospital assets and assure accurate and timely recording of all transactions by implementing disciplines of internal audits, controls and checks across all departments.
oManage the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, payroll, fixed asset records, general & entity accounting, cost accounting and budgets.
oIssue timely monthly financial records to the Executive Team.
oManage commercial banking relationships to facilitate an appropriate credit resource under highly competitive terms.
oPerforms other related duties as necessary or assigned.
RequirementsWork Experience, Education, and Certifications:
oBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required with strong knowledge of generally accounting principles.
CPA preferred.
oMinimum of 5 years Controller or ACFO level or equivalent experience within an acute care hospital environment required with such experience preferably being with a stand-alone, not for profit, acute care hospital.
oKnowledge of overall hospital operations at a level to provide leadership, in conjunction with the CNO and CFO.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
oAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with hospital staff - including department directors and other senior leadership, medical staff, Board of Trustees, and community.
oExperience to include strategic oversight with an emphasis on financial reporting analysis and cash flow management.
oStrong revenue cycle knowledge and problem-solving skills.
oPublic relations abilities.
oExcellent verbal and listening skills.
oAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with hospital staff, medical staff, Board of Trustees, and community.
oAbility to maintain confidential information concerning personal, financial, or medical matters.
oAbility to perform the administrative aspects of leading departments and teams to include budgeting, time approvals, staff evaluations, and expense approvals.
